My dad wants a new one for Fathers day, since his 20 year old one is shaking its death rattle

Here's the one he has now

And it has served us well. He wants something about this size, but slightly larger wouldn't be bad. Other than that he wants one where you can raise/lower the fire with a crank

I looked a bit on lowes, home depot, sears, and there didn't seem to be much to choose from. In fact the choices were damn pitiful (sears was ok). Am I looking in the wrong place or is there just no interest in charcoal anymore? (seems blasphemy to me!)

I don't really know where else to look, are there specialty stores that I could maybe order from? I assume shipping would be high, but we're fine with assembling one

Where did you guys get your charcoal grills?

edit: I dont wanna spend too much, but it kind of depends on what I find. <$300 preferably

He seems like the kinda guy that would enjoy one of those smokers.. I can't recall the name but they come up every now and then on here.. little smoky or something.. Anyhow there are a few really easy mods that apparently make it a fantastic home smoker.

...might be a good xmas gift or something?
