Anybody watch Chappelle's show last night? I thought it was pretty funny. Michael Rappaport was really good in the popcopy sketch. The Mitsubishi ad was pretty funny. Looking forward to seeing some more next week.
 
I've seen him quite a few times on different shows (like the Tonight Show). I was very much unimpressed. Basically his performances boil down to "I'm black, as blacks we are screwed, hahahaha". If he could say just one sentence - just one - that wasn't race related I might be willing to watch his show. Did he?

I'm guessing you wouldn't have liked the sketch where he was a prominent white supremecist who was unknowingly really a blind black man. I think he's pretty funny, but a lot of it's race jokes...they just seem to be much better spirited than most other comedians. He seems like in a real world setting, he's probably a nice guy that is really funny.

I didn't see that movie, so I did a quick google search for reviews. The first thing that popped up was this.
"Don?t get me wrong, I don?t mean to insinuate Chappelle?s performance was void of humor; nay, he had me laughing often. Overall, however, I found the scope of his content too narrow and repetitive. Nearly all of Chappelle?s material was focused on one of two themes: sex and race."

Now I really like humor especially if it is "some sick, twisted, off-color" as that reviewer wrote. But I too get quite annoyed when the person cannot come up with more than one or two topics for their entire career. I just get bored after a while.
 
The race thing will most likely die down, it's his first show!!! I didn't think it was all that funny, it was not horrible though and I'll watch the show again for sure. The race jokes have gotten really old, but that last skit he did as the blind Black White Supremacist was to funny.

Damn. I wanted to watch it. I did see the teaser for it and the Mitsu Eclipse commercial spoof cracked me up. It looked like the girl who was actually in the commercial, but, didnt see back to back so don't know for sure.

Maybe they'll have an encore of it.


 
i enjoyed the show. i think chappelle is hilarious. when they mocked the eclipse ad and the girl came exposed and they showed his reaction, i was busting up. also, the supremacist skit and the "kinkos" skit was also well done. i for one cant wait for future episodes. i was continously laughing during this show. too many commercials though.

a few things in the commercial didnt get shown in last ngihts episode. like the part where he gets whipped and he looks back and says "i told you to take it easy, steve!" didnt see it. good, something to look forward to in the future.
 
chappelle is kinda funny, not great, the show was about the same. a few laughs, but also some lulls where i just wished the bit would end

anyway, some of his race jokes come out pretty funny. to me he doesnt sound like hes bitching about it, so much as getting a laugh off a topic so many people DO bitch about

either way, i still dont like sketch comedy that much
