Chaos at my school today...

I got a little taste of what the East Coast blackout must have felt like today. During 4th period the lights started flickering and then they went out. Our emergency generator lights really suck and they didn't help at all. No one really knew what to do because there wasn?t a procedure for it. Nobody knew where the flashlights where so everyone ran out of their classrooms and ran down the dark hall screaming. I always carry a flashlight in my backpack so I was about the only one that had one and security actually tried to take it from me. The teachers weren?t doing anything and security couldn't control 1800 people who were just running around. Everybody started going where they wanted to. Apparently the best thing the school could think of was thinking it was a school shooting or something and calling a lockdown. While the first floor just ran outside, the people on the second and third floor were trapped in their classrooms in the dark, with no idea what was going on. Finally everyone was just told to go outside and people started going home, someone said there was no school for the rest of the week and it just got around so it looks like almost no one will be coming. The school didn't have any way of telling us what was happening because the intercom was down and I guess they didn't have a megaphone. Really funny how unprepared we were. Looks like a four and a half day weekend :D.

Glad everyone's okay, but that's ridiculous if you don't go back to class...shouldn't you be required to, unless told otherwise? A lot easier than saying that there IS class today.

But fun nonetheless. I miss high school days off. :)
