Changing XP standard computer driver to ACPI driver???

Last night I installed XP on a friends and had accidently left the BIOS setting for ACPI off. So the system driver for windows is "standard computer" which means it does not do the auto power off and whatever else that affects. Is there a way to convert XP to the ACPI driver or does it require a reload to do it? I have read something on this previously but can't remember the details. Any help is appreciated.

Do a repair (inplace upgrade) install. Be sure ACPI is on in bios, boot to XP then put the XP CD in and choose upgrade.
