Changing WinXP remembered password at login

I just had to reset a user password for a client using the offline linux disc. On boot now, the machine still tries to auto-log into their user account with the old password on that Win2k style login screen. After it fails, all you have to do it hit ok, then the welcome screen comes up and it's business as usual. Obviously though I want to get rid of that auto login. How do I go about fixing this? Machine is XP Pro.

in a command prompty, type "user controlpasswords2"

There, you can change the auto login information or check the box next to "require users to enter a username and password to login to the computer" or whatever it specifically says.

I find that changing the password within the user control panel settings requires you to go into control userpasswords2 to undo the previous settings, hit apply, then re-enter the settings with the correct passoword for things to be transitioned fluidly.

Typo there, it's "control userpasswords2". I thought that would be it but there's nothing under "remembered passwords". Any other places this could be?

Wow. Brain knot.

I'd check "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer and reboot.
