Changing Ultra ATA Controller Win XP

I have a Promise Fastrack 66 RAID controller and was trying to replace it with a Promise Ultra 133 controller (no RAID). When I switched out and plugged in the new card nothing would boot up. All I get is a BSOD. What am I missing here? Probably a lot of info is missing but this is the gist of my issue.

also , is you boot partion on the drive your running from the card ? if so , plug the drive into one of the onboard IDE channels , let it detect the card and install drivers , then swap it back.
good luck

I installed a promise 133 with winxp a while back. I couldn't get it top do anything with the winxp driver. I downloaded the driver off of promise's site and all was well. hope this helps.

I removed the device from WIn XP before shutting down. I wonder if I need to use the REPAIR function on the Win XP Pro installation disk to install the device driver. It seems as if it is just not recognizing the card at all. I use the regular IDE controller connection with my C drive which has WIN 98 and it has the boot info on it.
