I want to make a link cable again for my TI 83+. I had a parallel link cable in the past but I want to do a serial now since supposedly the official TI software supports it as a 'black cable'. But from fvcking around with it, the calc-to-calc cable that I started with and cut one end off is getting way too short.
The current cable is a two conductor of about 30AWG wrapped in a copper sleeve. I need to use both the red and white conductors and the sleeve. I want to keep the current cable and extend it due to the fact I dont wanna deal with getting another 2.5mm plug and wiring that.
I want to extend that wire with some sort of Belden cable. I think I have some Belden 9462 which is a 22 AWG x 2 conductor with a Mylar foil and drain wire. I was gonna crimp and solder the wires together and cover with heatshrink and thus have a longer and easier to work with cable.
What I wondered about was moving from a 30 AWG to a 22 AWG (if I can solder it good enough) and from stranded copper sleeve to a mylar foil with a drain wire. I would twist the stranded copper sleeve enough to attach it to the drain wire on the Belden cable.
Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Or anyone who's made one of thes elink cables have anything to add?
