Changing The Default Install and Program Running Directorys

I added a new hard drive to this computer. Windows boots off of the old hard drive (C)and I want to run the files and install stuff to the new hard drive (D)

I have the new hard drive set as master and the old as slave. I used Maxtor's software to copy over all of the files to the new hard drive (some system files couldn't be copied so XP hangs at the welcome screen before it says welcome). Anyways, HOW DO I GET THE EXISTING FILES THAT I COPIED OVER FROM THE C DRIVE TO ALWAYS OPEN ON D. HOW DO I CHANGE THE DEFAULT INSTALL DIRECTORY OF PROGRAMS TO THE NEW D HARD DRIVE? thanks

This is not General Hardware related.
