Changing the admin password on a mac

Hey I just got a mac and I'm pretty new to them. I changed my admin password but I can't remember what I changed it to.... is there anyway I can reset it? or do I have to format and reinstall OS X?

I'm betting since it's based on UNIX there has to be a way to change it with out formatting. Oh yeah I am in the admin account but I can't change the password because I can't remember my old password.

uh haven't actually done it on a mac, on linux/unix, you can often boot into single user mode, type passwd then your user account, and reset it. not sure if this works on mac os though.
