Changing sound cards

I'm upgrading from the audigy 2 zs to the X-Fi Platinum. Do I need to uninstall the drivers first? If so, what's the best way to make sure I do it right?

I'd remove the card...install the new one...then format my hd and re-install windows and etc.

lol

but that's just me

In your case, I'd recommend uninstall the drivers. remove card, install new one.

install new drivers.

Normally I would reformat, but I just did last week and I'm too lazy to do it again. I will if enough of you guys recomend it though.

I just moved from a SB Live! to an X-Fi Extreme Music and I am on the virge of reformatting. I uninstalled the old card, drivers, and applications just like anyone else would. I installed the X-Fi and its associated software and whaddya know...it still was looking for the old Live! card. I guess I should have gone in the registry to make some changes, but not being a registry guru, I didn't...besides the fact that it wouldn't be necessary.

As a result, my MediaSource and certain consoles don't work. I recommend a reformat, if only for peace of mind.

I would either:

1) Reformat.
2) Download a "Driver un-install" program for your card, then install the new one.
