Changing Scale of Horizontal (time) Axis ...

i made 2 screen-grabs to try and illustrate what i was trying to do

http://www.geocities.com/wwswimming/max.JPG

this shows the time-frame spread out. each of those earthquake looking things is a letter. what i'm trying to do is synchronize lip movements with the audio, so that, for example, if the character is saying, "eeee", then the mouth is stretched into sort of a smile position - during those frames.

the problem is, if you look at that first image, the audio playback in 3D studio Max, the animation program, is not that good. you can pass the vertical frame indicator bar over the waveform, and it will "play" it, but it's really sketchy sounding.

in the second picture, the waveform is compressed on the horizontal axis, but it plays good.

if i could stretch it out in Sony Vegas Studio, stretch it out along the horizontal axis, i could tell which clumps & clusters of lines correlate to which sounds.

this would be a great help for when i'm doing the lip-syncing in 3D studio Max.

anyway, that's an explanation of what i'm doing with these programs.

it would really be helpful if i could learn how to make that little mod. for Sony Vegas Studio.
