Changing out my 7900 GS for a 7900GTX.

The Orion runs my X2 dual core and 7900GS fine.

Current P/S
Orion HP585D

12+...19A
12+...20A
5+....36A
3.3+ 36A

Would my Antec 380 Earthwatts put out truer amps than the Orion ??

....and be enough for the 7900GTX ??

Antec 380 Earthwatts

3.3+.20A

TIA.

Throw the HEC Orion in the trash before it takes out your other components.

IMO, the Earthwatts 380 is a bit underpowered...Take a look at their 430 watt units, or Corsair PSU's.

Most people just don't understand that the power supply is the heart of their computer...a crappy one can kill your system.

Another question if I may 🙂

2 x 12+ rails or one large 1+ rail ....is one better than the other ??

Thanks.

Yes.

No. It is not better, nor worse. In a properly designed and functioning PSU, it should not matter how many "rails" the +12v has. Of course a single rail will allow you to get crazy with daisy chaining everything off one plug if that turns your crank. Multiple rails may be safer because in case of a short there will be a limit to how much power goes through it. The other thing is that manufacturers have been known to lie about how many rails their PSU has, for marketing reasons.
