How do I change the monitor from Default Monitor to the correct one in WinXP. I think I'm having problems getting Civ3 to work because of the default monitor. I get a "dead" screen because my monitor enters power save mode. May be a problem with the refresh rate.
 
Download the latest drivers for your monitor from the manufactures website, if they don't have xp drivers try win2000.
 
make sure to be careful if you don't download new drivers for your monitor. Mine just said default monitor and when I upgraded video drivers, it changed my refresh rate to something my monitor could not handle (1280x1024 @ 85hz on a cheap 17" does not work) It then fried my monitor after 3 days. I normally check the refresh rate after installing new monitors, but it never did change, until now.
