Changing monitor resolution?

Can the resolution of a native 1600x900 monitor be changed to 1440 x 900?

I'm thinking of getting an ASUS VH202T-P (20" widescreen 1600x900) as a second monitor.
My first monitor is an ACER AL1917W (19" widescreen) with a max resolution of 1440x900.

For the most part, I'm guessing I could run them both at their max resolutions without an issue.
But, some apps I use have multiple windows that I want to spread across both screens. I wouldn't have windows resizing as I go between monitors if they're the same resolution.

Can't you run the 20" monitor at 1440x900 to match your original monitor? Or am I not understanding what you're trying to do.

As far as I know, there isn't a way to change the native resolution of a monitor though... that's hardwired in. You CAN change resolutions, however it probably won't look as nice as the native res.

Yep - that's what I want to do - run the 20" monitor at 1440x900. Just wanted to know if it's possible. But, if it won't look as nice than at the native res, then I may be better off getting another monitor with 1400x900 native res.
