Changing Monitor in Windows 2000

My monitor won't go to sleep.

When I go to display properties/advanced/monitor it shows a default monitor and properties is grayed out. There is no monitor in the device manager. How do I change the monitor? I am using an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 AGP 16MB. Is it possible that the ATI drivers have caused a problem?

Thanks.

Help. I really would like to have my monitor go to sleep? Is this a common problem with Windows 2000 and/or ATI?

Thanks.

You have to install your monitor with the correct *.inf file. Then all the functions of the monitor will be accessible to Windows.

Thats the problem. I can't get the drivers installed.

Yes I am and I have also tried it as admin.

I just plugged in a different monitor and the properites tab isn't grayed out. Is it possible that something is wrong with my monitor?

Thanks.
