Changing mobo from Asus A7V KT133 to KT133A...

My current Asus A7V has a problem with it's flash ram, so I'm gonna RMA it, and get my money back. I plan to buy the new A7V with the KT133A chipset, and basically put it in the place of the old mobo( the KT133). I've got a couple of questions regarding this...

1) I'm not planning on formatting my hdd. I'm pretty sure replacing the mobo from KT133 to KT133A will give me no problems booting up, since only the north/southbridge (cant remember which) has been changed on the newer mobo to make 133fsb possible. I'd just like confirmation that I'm right - that the drive will be fully bootable and operational.

2) Since I only have a normal run-of-the-mill 1ghz tbird (100Mhz fsb). will running it at 133Mhz be ok? I've heard that tbirds can do 133 no problem (and even goas high as 150). Is this right?

Thanks

1) What operating system???
- Windows 9x/ Me Tend to be much more tolerant of planar / motherboard changes. Windows 2000, especially if the hard disk controller type is changed, has a habit of farting out with **INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE*** Blah blah blah.....

I'm currently using win2000 on a IBM 75GXP on the promise ata100 controller. I think the controller is identical in the KT133 and the KT133A A7V, and since it is pretty much the same mobo (except for the north/southbridge, which, as far as I know have nothing to do with the promise controller), I can't see why it wouldn't boot... of course, I don't know this for sure, which is why I'm asking for input :)

Are you planning on overclocking it?

I will be overclocking it as long as the 133fsb works at first. (Isn't going from a 100fsb to 133fsb overclocking anyway? :D) I'll run it at 7.5 x 133 (default 1ghz) to start with to make sure everything's working ok.

10x100 = 1000 = 7.5x133 the CPU doesn't care...

The chipset will but obviously the KT133A is fine with 133Mhz FSB.

of course 10x133 = 1330 is unlikely, but as long as you lower the multiplier some you'll be fine. 8x133 or 8.5x133 or maybe even 9x133..but I doubt 10x133 hehehe.

As for swapping mobos without re-install it should be ok, Windows will probably restart alot and redetect alot of new devices, but it should work fine.

I'd check with your mobo supplier, they will probably want to replace the BIOS chip, not RMA the entire mobo.
