I am changing motherboard and dont want to loose the information on the hard drive. Now, do I have to reformat and reinstall?

Is there any other alternative?

Thanks

you could do a windows repair when you boot from the windows xp cd. but id think most people would recommend a full reinstall.

burn your data to CDs or DVDs so you don't lose it!
Then swap the mobo, and try running a repair.
It might work.

My money's on a mandatory reinstall though, unless you're replacing the mobo with another one of the same chipset.
