changing led for 1030?

i wanna change the stock LEDs to red/blue... i noticed that these LEDs are smaller than the ones on my current case (hx45)... can anyone that changed their LEDs on their antec point me to a set of LEDs from radio shack or something? thanks

Bump

Same here. I went to radio shack didn't find what I was looking for. Did buy some stuff to to do some cable rounding

next time i go to radioshack im gonna do what someone suggested to me (i think paradox but i dont remember 🙂) and take the LED to radioshack and have them figure it out for me 🙂

the blue LED's at radio shack are five bucks (up here in Canada anyways).. but yeah.. are those the high intensity ones? or are they just blue?
I switched the LED's in my case (some no name one) with em.. they work fine.. the original LED's in my case were the small tiny ones.. I put in some big ones.. use a glue gun to just stick that sh!t on..
all LED's run off of similar voltages.. I'm pretty sure you can't screw up your mobo.. so don't worry about that.. I think that the worst thing that could happen is that you burn a LED.. if that happens.. put a resistor on it..
if you're new to electronics (as I am)
use some heatshrink and a soldering gun to do the job right.. don't just twist that sh!t and wrap it in tape.. although that would work.. I can tell you're a professional that appreciates proffesional type work..
I hope that helps..
I've changed many an LED in my time.. um.. well, not MANY... but three computers.. haha.. not many at all I guess... oh well...
But yeah.. if the bigger LED's won't fit in the case.. you can just sort of aim em at the hole and glue em in that postition.. that should work.. that's what I did.. but then.. I'm not familiar with your case.. the LED's at Radio shack are the 5mm ones.. (that I saw anyways.. and the size that I used.. mine aren't from RAdio shack.. but same size)..

yea i got LEDs for my aopen case, the 5mm ones.. work great cuz they have their own little holder that fit perfectly... but the sx1030 (probably 830 too) are smaller, and are fit in a rectangular thingy to keep it in place.. if i had a digi camera id show a picture doh

I have some know name case that I changed the led out on. The led that came in it was smaller then my blue led so I took out my good old dremel and carefully ground the backside of the led hole out so the new led would fit better.

Radio shack 276-311 (blue led) fits just fine into my Antec SX830, so it should fit into your SX1030. The led is a bit longer but it fits just fine.

You shouldn't have to add a resistor because all (almost all) old red and green led's run on 15-30 milliamps. This means that the current limiting should be taken care of on the motherboard. Some new high intensity led's do need more current so if you want to run a high current led you need to use a transitor and use 5-12V with a suitable resistor (V=iR).
