changing laptop drivers

hi.

im using an ibm t40 that has a mobility radeon 9000 in it. The current catalysts dont work with it, and i hear its better to use the IBM provided drivers anyway. The problem is, that even with the newest provided drivers on the IBM site, these drivers still suck. I hear the omega drivers will work with the laptops? Is this true? any help is appreciated.
