I want to make this short and to the point.
I bought a KHypermedia DVD+R drive(I know I am cheap-got it free after rebate a while ago) and I heard it was possible to upgrade to DVD-R and possibly upgrade the speed it writes at. Does any one have any knowledge on this, or could point me in the right direction to be able to upgrade? Thanks!

I guess I have one more question. What do people think of the Chaintech 6 channel sound card? I have it and am not sure if I want to upgrade, because I feel it is kind of causing computer problems.

Those guys deal with a ton of cd/dvd drive mods. If anyone has answers, they will. Go to their forums, and look around.

Khypermedia doesn't actually manufacture anything - it's just a packager for the retail channel (since I've not seen their stuff anywhere but Office Max, I'm going to assume it's their in-house packager like Rosewill is to newegg, Mad Dog to CompUSA, etc.). So you need to find out the real make and model of the drive, then you can work from there. The label on the top of the drive itself may lend a clue.

It's either rebadged Cyberdrive or Benq. If it's Benq, then it's DW800A which is awesome +R 8x drive. I have one myself and have burned over 1000 +Rs. You can pay $10 to get -R firmware but don't bother as this drive is great +R drive and not so good -R drive. Just booktype your +R disc to DVD-ROM and it should play in pretty much any players.
