I am taking a new job. It's going to be quite a change for me. I currently run a clinical research outsourcing office for a Pharmaceutical company. I will be crossing to the other side of the table and selling clinical research services to people like me at other drug companies.

Now I have to resign and am not sure how to do it. I have quit before, but my boss and staff are going to freak and I want to be very diplomatic about it as the new company wants to keep their good relationship with my current employer. Any suggestions on where I can find some good example letters to use as a starting place?

thanks in advance...

footnote - this was supposed to be my 5000th post...

Heh - one of those links had a resignation letter generator

this is what it came up with:

I resign!

Dear Boss,

Despite selflessly devoting my time to BI Pharma since June 1999 you have never recognised my worth. Now that I've been offered a huge salary by our biggest rival I'm leaving this sinking ship.

You ought to know that I heard the CEO saying you were a F-tard!.

Yours

Ah I'm sure you'll come up with something, mwilding! If I was to write such a letter it would start with how much I've appreciated working with everyone there and what a fine company it was, blah blah, but although you'll miss it you're moving on.
