I apologize for the cross-post, but this seems to relate equally for both Motherboards and OS's. Moderator, please delete if this is out of line. Anyway...

I've read thru the many threads on IRQ sharing in Win2k, but am still unclear on whether or not I can change the assignments. I've changed my pc to "Standard PC", disabled ACPI and "Plug and Play OS", and changed around my card locations, but still have devices sharing that I would prefer weren't. Here's my current card setup:

AGP: Viper V770 TNT2
PCI1: Diamond Fireport40 scsi controller
PCI2: SB Live! X-Gamer
PCI3: empty
PCI4: D-Link 530TX NIC (LAN)
PCI5: empty
PCI6: 3Com EtherExpress 10/100 NIC (cable)

With this setup, each card should have it's own IRQ. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The scsi controller and the X-Gamer are sharing IRQ9, while the TNT2 and 3Com are sharing IRQ11. I wouldn't worry about this, except for the fact that I am having frequent lockups in online games (can play the game single-player just fine. Multi games seem to lockup when louder sounds are played). I think this might be due to the IRQ sharing.

How can I change the IRQ assignments?

You can get more information here on how to hack your way into changing IRQ's:

But beware! I tried all these procedures and ended up with a very very corrupted copy of Win2k that wouldn't boot. I recommend not trying them. I lost a lot of data because of this =(
