My wife started with UPS a couple of months ago, and was offered a part-time manager position with health insurance (dental, ADD, life also). Her health insurance is much less expensive, and has better coverage than mine (UHC), so we are going to switch to coverage through UPS (Aetna, Cigna). Her plans are basically $15 copay and $85% (we pay 15%) coverage of everything else from either provider.

UHC was nice because you didn't have to get pre-authorization to see a specialist, and they paid the doctors when a claim was filed without my having to call the insurance company too. I seem to remember having Aetna, and having to call them a few times when a claim was filed before they paid the doctors.

The question is which insurer is better in your opinion, Aetna, Cigna, or stick with UHC?

What kind of plan? HMO, PPO, etc?

Typically, with PPO plans, you don't need pre-cert to see a specialist.

I used to have CIGNA PPO coverage with a old employer. No problems with claims.

We had both before, from what I recall there was no real differences between the two. Just go over the coverages and deductibles, and monthly premiums, and chooose which one fits your needs the most.

You can have 2 insurances. Just use one as your primary insurance and whatever that one doesnt pay have the other pay. I have Aetna but i'm still on my moms insurance so i use both. My plan is through UPS too and its pretty good insurance (health, dental, optical). Mines a little different though because i'm not management. I dont have a co-pay. They pay 80% and i pay the rest. I can pick whatever doctors i want and i also get reimbursed for my prescriptions.
