Changing from Intel i5-750 to AMD FX-8350 in WIN 10

My son gave me his Asus Sabertooth 990 FX 2.0 and an AMD FX-8350 as well as an EVGA GTX670 video card. Is it worth the possible hassle of swapping out my MB and CPU and adding these parts instead. I'm not a gamer. What obstacles will I get from Microsoft. I have always had retail versions of Windows , now WIN 10 Pro-64 creators update. Thanks.

Should be fine.
Backup personal data to an external USB drive first, change the "IDE/ATAPI Controller" in Device Manager to "Standard Microsoft Controller" and reboot, then switch out the old board to the new board. Windows should eventually boot up using the updated components. However, a second USB thumb drive that's bootable and capable of fresh installing Windows would also be a good fallback solution to have on hand, in case there's a boot failure.

Since you're not a gamer, I'd sell the 670 on eBay or something and try to find a GT740 or something similar instead. (Lower power, runs cooler, etc.)

IMHO.

Make sure that you have written down your Win 10 Retail Key.

When you boot the new computer your Win 10 would be activated since from Win 10 perspective it is a new computer (goes by the Mobo).

Try first to enter the Retail number and reactivated. If it does not work you will have to call Microsoft's Support and explain what you did.
