Probably something really simple, but I have several partitions on one drive, and installed a new hard drive with the OS.

I really want the OS to be drive C, but it's not. Can I easily change the drive letters around and will it have any effect on files or programs by changing the drive letters that they're on?

Go to Administrative tools/computer management/disk management and you can resassign drive letters to your hearts content.

Look on MS's knowledge base for Q223188 - "How to change the System/Boot drive letter in Windows 2000". I am sure XP has the same behavior.

I looked into this a few weeks ago and all leads said that you can't reassaign the drive letter on which the OS is installed.

I had to reformat/reinstall to get it the way I wanted.
