Changing desktop resolution in Knoppix??

I got interested in Knoppix after reading some posts here about it lately. I DL'ed and burned the ISO to try on my Toshiba laptop. Everything appears to run great - all my hardware is configured and recognized.

However, I can't see an option in the control panel that allows me to change the resolution on my laptop. It seems to be running in 640x480, but that only fills up a little over half the screen with my 15" screen. I'd love to be running at 1024x768...is this possible?

I did a search and looked for Knoppix FAQs, but couldn't find anything.

X still doesn't deal very gracefully with resolution - though the 4.3 release at the end of the month is finally supposed to change this. I don't know Knoppix, but you should be able to do Ctrl+Alt+Plus or Ctrl+Alt+Minus to cycle resolutions. To change the default resolution, you would have to edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file, but if you're working entirely off the disk, I guess this isn't possible.

Read the Knoppix FAQ, where it tells you the startup options.

The command should be knoppix screen=1024x768

If you have a scrolling mouse, you will also need to use the command line to start with wheel support.

Yup. That's the last I heard at least. The CVS is pretty much there if you want to be adventurous, though compiling X is less than fun. I haven't confirmed that the mode switching support is in there, but that was the plan. Folks I talk to seem to be having too much fun theming their cursors to worry about anything else. :)
