Changing default Internet search engine

Has anyone successfully been able to change the default Internet search engine in XP? I go into search preferences and pick google and choose 'classic search' and it still goes to MSN. Tried restarting browser, pc, sacrificing a small lamb to the Evil Empire which is Microshaft and still no dice.

Any ideas? Anyone successfully do this? Thanks ahead of time and join TeAm Anandtech SETI in our quest to crush DSLR!
