I'm looking to upgrade my current motherboard. It's an EPoX board sporting the nF4 Ultra chipset. My question is if I change to another motherboard with the nF4 SLi chipset in it, do I need to format my O/S partition and reinstall? Thanks.

The chipsets aren't really differant, it's still an NF4. What I would do is uninstall the drivers from the onboard devices from your motherboard, since they might be differant on the new one. At worst you should have to do a repair install, which will still keep all your programs and files intact.

Please search; this gets asked frequently. There is also an AT FAQ/Guide on this topic.

But basically, yes, I've done the repair install route several times without any major problems.
