Very strange why this would happen as I'm using the Fan Controller that comes with the Fractal ARC Midi R2 feed directly from a Molex connected to an XFX 850W Pro Black Edition fully modular PSU. The Fan Controller has no connection to the Main Board or BIOS nor the Operating System.
The Fan Controller manually changes the Voltage of 3 Fractal 140mm Case Fans in 5, 7 and 12 Volt increments to vary the Fan Speed.
Say I've got the Fan Controller set in the Medium Speed setting of 7 Volts. After I've booted in to Windows, if I flip the Fan Controller to Max, the 3rd Position to run at 12 Volts - The Screen goes BLACK and I have to Ctrl/Esc, Tab, Tab and Enter to Shut the OS down.
Upon Reboot the Screen is OK running the Case Fans at 12v but if I toggle the Fan speed back to any other Speed the screen will blacken again. It's as if I loose power to the PCIe Video Card.
Seems I have to preset the Casing Fan Voltage prior Booting.
All Voltages from the PSU are Bang right on. I've used Manual Fans Controllers in the past with Variable Potentiometers without issues to control multiple case fans on other platforms.
I'm running an ASUS P8Z68ProV Gen3 with an i7 2700K at 4.7G's cooled by a Corsair H110 which has Fans controlled by PWM set in BIOS in Extreme Mode. My Video Card is an EVGA e-GeForce GTX 280 with the latest 320 Drivers - if that means anything.
