Changing boot drives - do I need to reinstall Windows?

I'm finally getting around to dumping my SCSI subsystem, and am installing a WD Raptor for my boot drive. Do I need to reinstall Windows (XP Pro) when making this change? I'm not sure how big a change, driver-wise, this would be, and if Windows will be able to handle it.

If I'm okay not reinstalling, what would be the best way to make this transition? Am I going to have problems with my boot.ini file?

Any advice on the best way to make this transition would be appreciated. If I can avoid reinstalling, that would be optimal (just did it recently), but if not, I'll deal...

You could get around a reinstall by copying the boot drive editing the boot.ini file to reflect the ARC path of the new boot drive.

You could try to ghost the partition, or the drive over, but I think you will find that you will have to re-install XP.

If you install the drivers for the SATA controler and the WD raptor then ghost your data from the scsi drive to the sata drive you should be able to just boot off the Sata system as long as it's setup to boot from the correct device in the bios.
