The IBM website shows the 2611 model with the drive under the keyboard. This one that I need to repair has the drive located at the front middle of the unit. How do you do it? I took out the keyboard and all that but still don't know how to get to it?! It's located under the front bezel behind the cd player controls. Please help!

What exactly is the type#, all 7 digits, of your laptop? You listed both 2621 and 2611.

Looks like you only need to remove the CD controls cover (2 screws), and then pull out the HDD. Make sure you have the most current BIOS on this model as it seems to have some "thermal issues".
