Changes Coming To Yahoo Email

Yahoo Email will soon, as of June 05, 2014, limit some users to Basic Email only, depending on what web browers you are using. They do not even support the latest Opera and quite possibly will not support Pale Moon either.

Those that get basic email will lose these features (some needed, some not)

Basic mail doesn't include these advanced features

  • Font size or type options (formatting toolbar) .. this one I like & use
  • Photo slideshow .. not used very often
  • Spell-check .. not really needed
  • Messenger .. never use it
  • Notepad .. I don't use it
  • Themes .. could do with or without them

Sure it's just another ploy to try to get you to buy their upgraded e-mail service. I've used Yahoo e-mail for years (a decade possibly) and hate to move to something else, but will ISP's merging right and left, I need a stable - non-changing e-mail address that will survive the constant e-mail name changes from the ISP accounts.

Not so sure if buying the upgraded e-mail will be of any help. If it detects the wrong web browser version, it would insist on using basic mail. It may mean a switch for me to the latest Firefox or perhaps a stand alone email client. I also have used Yahoo Email for many years (over 20)

All I care about is they better not F with me because I chose to use Pale Moon. I have two E-mail addresses with these morons and I would have to change a lot of subscriptions and crap to gmx.

I hear there are ads in the paid version too, even the new one? They really dorked up the new My Yahoo page.

Gmail for my primary accounts
Outlook for my secondary
Yahoo gets all my spam stuff and rightfully so. If they want to compete with the likes of Google and Microsoft they need to cut the crap and make a good web client and not charge for "premium" services. The only stuff they should be charging for is additional inbox storage. Otherwise, Yahoo is going to continue losing marketshare.
