I recently switched from an eVGA 7800GT to a Powercolor X1900XT. I'm loving this card, but there's one problem. Whenever I watch a movie in Windows Media Player, or one that's embedded into a webpage, it will only play in like 6-8 colors. Do I need to download some sort of new driver or what? I would try to fiddle and fix it but thought I'd ask the pros first, before I screw something up. This is a clean install of Windows XP with SP2 that has about two months on it. The only video drivers installed were the nvidia ones and the new ATI ones. I didn't uninstall the nvidia drivers until after I installed the X1900XT, due to some time constraints.

Thanks!

I'd re-install the ATI drivers the right way first and foremost. Download Driver Cleaner Pro. Go and uninstall the video card drivers, reboot into safe mode then use Driver Cleaner Pro to clean out all traces of old video card drivers. Finally reboot into normal windows and install the latest ATI drivers.

Does the playback problem happen in other movie players like Media Player Classic or BSPlayer or Zoomplayer? If so it's probably a problem with your video codecs. If you're using a video codec pack, download the latest version of it, then uninstall the old codec pack and reboot. Re-install the new codecs.

I had the same problem and couldn't figure out why I couldn't view music videos on Launchcast. I upgraded to WMP 10, rebooted and the problem was gone.
