Changed SIM cards in a phone and now asking for activation key?

mine did that when i switched, i'm pretty sure i put it back into my old phone and created one, then put it into my new phone and typed it in, hope this helps, if not, sorry

the code you refer to is a subsidy code... these are generally set by the carrier and are unique per IMEI number. What you want to do is contact the carrier who has branded the phone you have (cingular, at&t, tmobile...) that's where you're gonna have to get the code. Once you put this code in, your phone will be "unlocked"

You don't have to get the cose from the carrier. There are tons of places that will do it for you. Heck, with many phones you can do it yourself.

STOP

Do not attempt to enter incorrect codes repeatedly. If it's asking for a subsidy code (I believe it is), the phone may lock PERMANENTLY after 3 failed tries!

Contact your phone's original service provider and ask them for the unlock code. It is unique for each phone, and is usually provided at no charge once you've been with the provider long enough for them to recover their subsidy investment in the phone (usually ~3 months or so).

Good luck!😀

true... you can get them from many places, but if you go right to the carrier, usually it's free

It depends on the carrier. Cingular wont give it to you anymore.
