Changed RAM from 533 -> 1000 and monitor wont turn on...

Since the mobo supports upto 1000MHZ RAM, I updated the bios and restarted the system. The system beeped and comes on like it normally would but I get no video.

I tried plugging in to the video output on the mobo or the video card, but no luck. The monitor stays orange (no signal type). I left the voltage and other settings as AUTO in the bios.

Any tips on how to reset this?

On a side note, what are the steps I should follow than just updating the Frequency on the bios to use a higher frequency?

Thanks much!

How exactly did you update the bios. Also what does the beep sound like. It may just be that the video card became unseated from its pci connection.

Which bios do you have? OCZ and the P5B boards have have a number of problems. Chances are pretty good you'll need to specify the voltage going to the memory. Look up the manufacturer's specifications and then use that. Apparently if the memory needs more than the standard 1.8v, everything goes to hell.

Doh me. having a bad day 🙁

It was the video card. It came ever so slightly unseated that I never doubted it.

Next time, I am pushing ALL conencters in tight before trying anyting else 🙂
