Changed Radeon to GeForce, now Windows keeps blinking randomly every hour or so.

I had a Radeon 9800 Pro, I down-graded to a GeForce 2.

Now, very randomly. Sometimes after a few minutes, other times after an hour or so, the screen blinks.

The type of blink is as if Windows is about to change resolutions. My monitor makes the clicking noise like the resolution is changing, but nothing changes. It just locks my mouse/keyboard for half a second while it happens.

Then everything works like normal.

Why does it keep doing this? I'm using the latest nVIDIA driver.

Yes, I un-installed the ATI drivers first.

I downgraded because I don't play any games anymore and have no time for them. I only use Windows for web site stuff and some minor Photoshop.

Fair enough. Was the card working good the last time you used it? Is it getting enough cooling?(eg: is the cooling fan working?) Sounds like it could be a hardware issue, But I'm really not sure as to what or why.

You look up user ratings for this card @ newegg? Anyone else having problems? You may have gotten a bum card. Sorry not much help for ya, Consider it a friendly bump if nothing else..

Ratings are mostly 5 out of 5, some 4 out of 5. Nobody else on Newegg seems to have mentioned this problem.

Note: It hasn't happened in about 3 hours. It's quite random.

well hope it's not as bad as what happened to me but this probably is a sign that ur powersupply is just about to go bad. I had the same problem with my Geforce4 Ti4200 and i thought it was the MoBo but finally turned out to be the PS. Before i could find that out i had already spent $200 in uprgrades....

Hmm, doesn't seem likely since the problem occured immediately after replacing the video card. I'm thinking this new card is bad.
