err, i think from the post before about getting windows XP alot cheaper it was referring to getting it errrr, gratis.... seriously tho, find a college student, they can usually get it thru their school for $10, i know i did.......

but also, i wouldn't recommend the 64-bit windows, driver support isn't anywhere near where it should be yet, stick w/ 32 bit windowz

Even XP Home will work fine with a dual-core CPU - the licensing is done per socket, not per CPU core.

Edit: And I'm not sure how it works at other universities, but at least at the one I attend - you can only buy one copy of any given software title, and you're not supposed to sell it IIRC. In any case, I'm not parting with my $5 copy of Windows XP ;)

Edit2: I would also not recommend going with XP64 at this time. Driver support is very poor for some devices.

alright I have a MSI K8N-Neo4/SLI and a Xclio 450BL PSU

I don't really plan to OC much but I may boost it up to 2.2GHz

And I have the Antec 100AMG SOHO FileServer Case.

errr...that XLCIO sorta scares me...im not very familiar w/ them. And my opinion on that is i wouldn't wanna put what you have onto a less than high Quality level PSU. Truth be told, i don't know much about that brand, and i also have never heard anything aobut it ever before. I would always 100% recommend ppl to spend $50 on the PSU and geta name brand.....might i recommend seasonic s12-430, it will set you back about 80 bones

EDIT: errr, wait, you said you already have that PSU.....well, i guess expectin u to shell out the 80 instead of 40$ more is prob askin too much....

XClio 450BL eh? I'm the one that popularized those when they first hit newegg's shelves. Still an awesome PSU for $53. =D

ChiBoy, I've disected a 450BL when they first came out. It's a repackaged Fortron FSP460-60HLN, without the APFC circuit

That 1GB is icky. CAS3 DDR400? That's gonna be quite a significant drop. For $30 more get a DDR500 stick and you can run it 1:1 with your CPU for your 2.2GHz overclock and get the finest 2-2-2-7 timings.

I wish I had known about this magical property of Opteron transitivity when I upgraded to dual-core, I would have done the same thing instead of getting an X2 3800+.
