So I upgraded my mb and cpu and now windows 10 is not activated any more. Also, when it tries to activate, it get's an error: 0xc004f025. So what is the deal? Am I stuck having to purchase a new copy?

You likely will have to call in and reactivate it. However, if it was an OEM license, that's generally tied to the motherboard, so they might not give you a new activation ID. In that case, you might have to buy another license.
