I just installed two WD 120 Gig hard drives on the RAID port. I flashed the most recent bios (F6). The master drive is a boot drive with XP Professional installed and all programs and data already installed. It worked perfectly on the IDE port. However, when I went to tranfer the boot drive and add a new blank drive to the RAID port and booted up, it automatically set both drives to two SEPARATE stripe arrays (I did not go into the promise bios utility). It booted up fine that way, but two individual drive stripe arrays serve no useful purpose. I'd like to use both drives as one stripe array or one mirror array.
I tried to reset this "default" array and I used the promise bios to delete the array and reset it. I first changed the array to a mirror array and then to a two drive stripe array. Neither would boot. Luckily, after I deleted the array again and rebooted without going into the Promise bios, the bios automatically set the drives back to its "default" two single drive stripe arrays.
Does anyone know how I can reset these arrays to either a mirror or stripe array without losing my data and still maintain the ability to boot to xp.
Thanks.
Alan
