Changed Boot Screen, now windows isn't starting!

I was changing my boot screen from the normal XP home one, to one I downloaded. I didn't read all of the readme file, and it said that service pack 1 must be installed for it to work, although I didn't have service pack 1. Now my computer doesn't boot up, in safemode or regular mode, and it just hangs after the logo screen that I installed. I can't find a way to boot up and change back to my old bootup screen, so I can use my computer. Do you know a way to fix the problem?

boot off cd and use recovery console to restore the origianl boot screen
