Hi, I would like to change my windows username *for real*.
Whem I use the common way (control panel->user accounts) it seem to only cosmetically change my user account. I would like it to change for real.
That's because I use Samba and my windows/unix usernames need to match. My windows username contains a whitespace which is not allowed on unix. If I change the username from the control panel the unix box still receives the old username, even after a reboot. Is there some place in the registry?

It'd be easier and faster to just create a new user account with the correct name.

What about the ID-PW option, under User Accounts, "Manage My Network Passwords"

- then you can input the ID and PW to use for the particular Unix box..

Right-click My Computer->Manage->Local Users and Groups. You can change the username for an account there.

ok will try that!!!
TG2->using "Manage My Network Passwords" does not allow the client to send a correct netbios name it seems.
