I have two machines, "master" and "slave". I rebuilt the master and took the master's innerds and put them in slave. Everything looks and works well, but when I find a printer from another computer, it sees it as being on "slave" instead of "master". where do I change that?

"master's innerds and put them in slave"
Sounds like you are running on the 'slave' hard drive, what exactly does 'innerds' consist of?

XP? Well, the quick anwer is to use the "System Properties" control panel, modifying the Computer Name in the "Computer Name" (I think) tab. That'll rename the PC. If you are having problems with Printer Shares and their names, that'd be in the "Printers and FAXes" control panel.

Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions.
