Chances of losing data on software RAID volume after OS reinstall?

I've got 3 drives in my main box:

[C:\] Drive # 1 - 300GB Win XP Pro SP2 - Basic

[E:\] Drives # 2 & 3 - Striped using Windows software RAID

I need to reinstall Windows XP SP2 on drive # 1

Question: What are my chances of losing the data on E:\ ?
Would yanking the cables from the mobo before reinstallation be the best method?
How will Windows read the dynamic volume after a fresh reinstallation?

Not sure with windows. Linux S/W raid wouldn't be a problem with an example like this, so I would ASSUME windows has close to the same functionality. It's pretty worthless otherwise.

Not a problem. The disk information is kept in the LDM database - the last megabyte on each drive.

If it sets your mind at ease, take your drives to another PC and plug them in. WinXP (Pro) will see them.

Thanks. I'll test it out but also will make a backup of it just in case.

I concur. And I have experience to back it up! 🙂
