Chamay Beer, where can I find some?

I once had a bottle of this at Claim Jumper's and it was great. 1 bottle and I was buzzing. I also really enjoyed the taste too. So far I haven't been able to find this brand of beer anywhere. All the liqour stores I've gone to don't have it or has never heard of it. Anyone know a liqour store/grocery store that carries it in the SoCal area, preferably in the San Dimas or Pasadena area?

And no I don't want to pay $7 a bottle form Claim Jumpers.

#1) It's Chimay
#2) Chimay doesn't make anything that's 11% ABV. Their tops is around 9% and their best beer is around 7%
#3) Be prepared to pay a lot. You'll often find Chimay in larger 25oz bottles and they can top $10. The 11 ounces are usually in the $5 range.
#4) Any package store with a good beer section should carry it. Check the phone book.

Chamay or Chimay??

Chimay is available at Trader Joe's.

It is still around $7 a bottle, although I picked up a couple on sale for $5 a couple of months ago... YMMV.

Thanks. Now where the heck did I get 11% from?😕

Also note that due to it's expense and, shall we say, "low market share", Chimay Red (I assume that's what you're talking about, it's 7.1% ABV) has a tendency to age a bit too much on the shelf. Check the bottles behind the first one, if they have dust on them (I see this all the time), do not buy from that store.

Seriously, it does not age gracefully, but it doesn't exactly skunk, either.

There are times when a person ought to just pick up the fvcking yellow pages.

Chimay should be available at any liquor store that carries a good selection of craft and import beer....

Chimay/Chamay or however the hell you spell it is all over the place here in Cleveland. Both of the somewhat local hippie chow stores have a few varities and the Heinen's I shop at has them also.

If you like Chimay you'll likely enjoy many of the other Belgian ales, specifically of the Abbey Ale style or Belgian Strong Ales. My favorite is a Trappist, and it's called Rochefort. Westvleteren is also exceptional, but you'll be hard-pressed to find it anywhere.

Some great Belgian ales:

St Bernardus Abt 12 and Tripel
Allagash Tripel Reserve (American brewer of Belgian style)
Ommegang Three Philosophers (another American brewer of Belgian style)
Cimes Yeti
Westmalle (this can be damn good, but a lot of what I seem to find in the states has a butterscotch diacetyl character. A lot of spoilage among Westmalle, but that's just my experience)
Victory Golden Monkey (another American brewer)

There are many of the style. Chimay is arguably one of the most popular, and because of that it sometimes gets a bad reputation just like anything else that hits mass appeal.

I just left Cleveland a few hours ago right before the St. Patty's day parade. I work right there, and I was able to see it last year.

And yes, I agree, Chimay seems to be widely available in Cleveland. Winking Lizard has a lot of great beers. In Atlanta we have the Vortex which has a lot of great beers as well.

i suggest you try:
Delirium Nocturne: belgian, tasty as hell
and
Hennepin, or Ommegang: not as good as delirium or chimay, but about half the price.
