My teacher says that in AIM(tm) the end users are connected directly to the other end user while chatting. I disagree with him. I believe that every communication goes through the IM Server unless you do direct connect. AM I wrong? Is there any place where I can look up on this?
 
AFAIK you are only directly connected during file transfer.
All other features go through the aim server.
 
Well think about it this way. Since there's an option you have to choose that's called Direct Connect. That would tlel you that if you don't choose that option, you are NOT directly connected. Which would mean you're going through the servers.
