Challenge to you folks: 500 Watt PS

Im slowly building up a new system. I have most items chosen, but theres one thing Im not finding.

Im gonna be doing some overclocking, have a 4 HDD RAID system, and eventually a DVD burner. So Im looking at getting a 500 WATT power supply. I dont want crap quality. So here's the challenge:

Whats the cheapest (price), but high quality power supply that you tech-heads know of?

Im looking for a good price. An average stable price. I want to get a good idea of what Im looking at if there is no time limited option, or coupons, etc etc.

Once I know what units to look for, and their average price, then I can keep an eye on the hot deals forum. No sense thinking that a 500watt PS for $20 is a good deal if its one of the ones that has voltage jumping around everywhere, bad heat problems, and dies in 6 months possibly taking the Mobo, CPU, and the HDD's with it.

Antec TruePower 550 comes to mind as an easy-to-find, quality-built unit. 3-year warranty, and designed to run quietly too. They also make a TruePower 480, 430, 380 and 330. I won't call them "cheap" at ~$100 for the 550, but if it sets your mind at ease... 🙂 Call it a reference point to compare other units for their price/quality ratio.

Incidentally, make sure not to get the 550EPS unless you have an EPS motherboard, they use different connectors than ATX. And be aware that you will probably have waaaaay more power than you need unless you are indulging in some sort of peltier madness. For four hard drives, two optical drives, a top-end video card, four memory modules, a top-of-the-line CPU, etc, I would personally be aiming at the TruePower 480 and probably that is still overkill.
