Thanks video card company nVIDIA who is keeping the 7800GS artificially high. After one month the lowest price on newegg is 299.00??? This is a real shame. Can the demand really be that great? I think not. I gave you the benifit of the dought expecting a slow decrease in price, but you have failed me. I will now reach into my pocket and find cash, cash that you might of had, but now you don't. I feel so powerless to this video card frenzy that I've been exposed to. Whambulence! Come get me.

Why should they lower the price of the best AGP card out, seriously, they have the only current gen product available for that market in this new gen.

Actually its not Nvidia lowering their price, its the suppliers and manufactures of the product (BFG, PNY, evga, ect) that are responsible for the cards price. Whine to them, not Nvidia.

Demand is also in there. Supply etc.. basic economics. You cant just have prices coming down for NO reason. One reason of price drop is either demand for the card was low or simply they needed to get rid of most of the invectory. etc.

God, this has been covered a billion times.

PCIe market is growing, high volume, competitive business. You can make more dollars in a growing market by selling more units at a lower price.

AGP market is small, captive, shrinking. There's no point in competing for the few AGP guys locked into a socket 423 or socket 478 or Athlon XP solution. Once again, that market is shrinking. The only way to recoup R&D dollars in a shrinking market is higher profit margin, there's absolutely no reason to dump cards into that market and slash prices. Make a few cards, sell them with a good profit margin, make a few more. That's how you recoup R&D dollars.

Neither NV nor ATI owe you a great bang for the buck card for AGP. They've done plenty of that in the past, not their fault you didn't dogpile on the $200 X850XT the whole month of January.

I agree with Soccerman.

There is no reason to lower the price of the AGP flagship.

If you're so unwilling to move to PCI-E, get an X850XT. Should be hovering around $200.

Holy crap, I take that back. The cheapest AGP X850XT I could find was $349 :Q:shocked:

$299 for a 7800GS should be considered a steal.
