Chaintech VNF4/Ultra Zenith VE & nVIDIA Audio?

Forgive me if someone has already posted about this (although a search for the VNF4 produced no relevant results), but what do you suppose Chaintech means when they say "Supports enhanced NVIDIA 7.1-channel audio" here?

It is the crappy AC97 audio from the nVidia nForce4 Ultra chipset.

"Eight-channel AC'97 audio ? Another highlight, or perhaps the lowlight, of the nForce4's feature set is audio. While building its hardware-accelerated networking capabilities, NVIDIA has moved in the opposite direction for audio, dropping the DSP-accelerated SoundStorm solution from the nForce3 in favor of basic AC'97 audio. The nForce4 won't resurrect SoundStorm, and NVIDIA hasn't elected to support Intel's new High Definition Audio standard on nForce4, either, so the nForce4 can't handle the higher sample and bit rates that standard brings. question has any one found any testing done on this board yet . i would like to know how it oc and if it will be like or better
than the vnf3 i hope better . i was going to get a epox ultra but i think i will wait till january now.

Newegg has this board now for $119. If you're not looking for SLI, I think this is a pretty damn good buy.

Its not SLI. but still a good deal if you like chaintech boards.
Personally I hate them. But I also like ECS alot people hate them as well.
So its all personal preference.

Definitely. I was just noticing how this nForce4 Ultra board was $70 < the only other nForce4 Ultra board I've seen, which is the K8N Neo4 Platinum.

It is a value board. you can wait for the board review or get a production board now then compare them.
most people never hit the oc numbers the review board gets.

SoundStorm 2 is coming,

NVIDIAs CEO was slightly cryptic about it being delivered, however, I think we can make an assumption that maybe the PCI-E bus has enough to deliver it as a standalone product. Here are those precious words:
"We're gonna build SoundStorm 2, it's gonna be awesome," he later added to that with more information about how it will be delivered "It come in a way that you won't expect." NVIDIA chose not to do this with nForce 4 - but he for one acknowledges that the market wants it. This is a great proof of consumer power and that NVIDIA do listen to the consumer.
