I would like a direct answer as well, but DFI supports it so it should be good with the chaintech, I assume (DFI is more picky than Chaintech).

Well I sent my DFI Ultra-D back because it wasnt compatable with this memory... and some other issues.

I am thinking of getting that ram for my vnf4 ultra. I would like to know if it works. I assume that it does. What about mushkin?

Edit: It works.

Ok, here is the offical memory support list from DFI themselves. I am fairly postitive that if it works in the DFI, it will work in the chaintech (same chipsets, memory controller-remember, its in the cpu, and the DFI is more picky!).

just received this from Taiwan:

I bought some of the same ram (Corsair VS512MB400 512MB DDR400 PC3200 CAS2.5 ) to go into an MSI RS480M2-IL Radeon Xpress 200 and I figured any ram that has the same pin/supported speed would work....

Uh oh...

I've built alot of computers using Corsair or Mushkin Value ram and they always work great on any motherboard I use.

Has anyone tried Corsair Value Select on this motherboard?

Yes. First-time build for myself this past weekend. The RAM is flawless so far running at 448mhz/2.6v at 1T.

There was a comparative article on DDR400 in one of last year's PCModder issues that pitted the Value Select against about 20 other RAM modules, every single one more expensive. When pushed to the limits, the Corsair toasted everything else, including "high-performance" modules like the Mushkin II Black.

My system (first one I've built):

OCZ PowerStream 420
Chaintech VNF4-Ultra Zenith VE (newest revision, brown PCB w/chaintech chipset fan)
Athlon 64 Winchester 3200+
2x512mb Corsair Value Select 2.5 CAS
Chaintech GeForce 6600 GT 128mb
Seagate 80gb SATA w/NCQ

Almost exactly the same system I built for a friend a few weeks ago. No tech support calls from him yet.

i see you guys chose the winchester over the venice.. i don't know much about the venice core yet but it seems to be at a similar pricepoint? is there an advantage on the winchester?

dfi nforce 4 boards are indeed picky about ram yes corsair and kingston are on the list however they have not been running well. why would you send the board back and just get different ram? they need to update the list to which ram modules are more compatible. dfi nforce 4 is a high performance board putting value anything in the board is like building a sports car and putting an electric motor in it.
