For those looking for possibly a cheaper way to get ahold of one of these boards (or if the online shops sell out again), there is a person selling one on ebay right now. He apparently tried to remove the chipset heatsink with the board still in the case, and knocked the tops off of 2 of the transistors (the are both detached on one side). The auction is at (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...3&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)
, and the board LOOKS reparable to me (with a little careful soldering). But then again, I HAVE my board, so I am not looking to get another that I may or may not be able to fix. But someone may be able to pick up a cheap VNF4 Ultra this way! I AM curious though, if anyone here has ever tried to repair this kind of damage on a motherboard, and how well it worked for them?

Linky borked, so I can't say for certain the damage, but if they need replacing you could easily spend $25+ for the parts (as you're not buying in high volume, so you get shafted) and you need to be REALLY careful with the soldering. There's a thread concerning replacing capacitors that burst (bursted?) on nForce2 mobos, though that's a slightly different story.

As for aeternitas' remark, I'm not sure the appropriateness of that, since there's nothing in this thread that implied that this board was new ...

Ahhh... But this is NOT a new product, this board is used (look at the auction to see what I mean) the owner broke off 2 of the transistors.

Sorry about the link, it worked initially (I even reloaded the page and tested it), but then it did not. I have fixed it tho.

Yeah, I have replaced a cap before, but I have never done a transistor -- those damn things look tiny!! I guess if someone is brave enough, they will give it a shot (and since the bidding is currently at a whopping $1.25, I think I may even bid on it at some point (if it is still cheap at the end).
